DIY Tie Dye With Rubbing Alcohol

After searching for the perfect "BIG BRO" shirts for my two sons who are about to welcome our newest little addition into the world in just a matter of days, I turned to pinterest!

"When in doubt, Search pinterest"

This lately has become my new motto! I was interested in finding something that was relatively cheap and easy to make without the mess! This past summer I had looked at our local Wal-Mart and was amazed to find how expensive tie dye cost! ( I was originally going to make our "Big Bro" shirts in the summer) But not at that cost! So I searched pinterest and found this blog http://www.sunscholars.com/2011/01/sharpie-tie-dying.html

It was a DIY tie dye using simply sharpies and rubbing alcohol! I was so excited I went straight to the store! I knew Rubbing Alcohol was cheap but was not sure about sharpies but to my surprise I found a 12 pack for 5 dollars! Yay!!!

With just days away from baby boy number three being here and my baby shower being that Saturday. I knew if we were going to make these shirts we needed to make them now! It was simple! I made the design I wanted on the shirt "Big Bro" and let Kalob my older son (5) color what he wanted in with sharpies of his choosing. I made Carters myself (he is only 19 months and was not in a very good mod that day!)

Then I took a medicine dropper and splashed all over with the rubbing alcohol. Next time I may use more caution on how much I use simply because it ran a lot! so drip wisely :]

Last, I let the two shirts dry over night then threw them in the dryer by themselves and let the dryer run for a while to heat set them! I washed them and didn't have problems with them running! I thought they both looked super cute wearing there brand new DIY tie dye shirts they helped make that Saturday at my baby shower!
